UPDATE: Unfortunately, EO Wilson has had to cancel his involvement in Wallace Day this year due to temporary illness. The conversation piece of the program will now follow directly after the 4pm panel to a conversation with Alfred Russel Wallace (as played by Andrew Berry)!
Alfred Russel Wallace co-discovered the theory of evolution by natural selection with Charles Darwin, and yet has been largely forgotten. 2013 marks the centenary of his death, and the HMNH, in conjunction with the Cambridge Science Festival, is celebrating Wallace's rich legacy with "Wallace Day" on Saturday April 20. Come find out more about a brilliant scientist, a heroic naturalist, and a passionate social reformer.
This ticket includes all-day entry to the Harvard Museum of Natural History, the 4pm panel discussion, the EO Wilson conversation, reception, and free parking in the 52 Oxford Street lot starting at 3pm.
In the HMNH galleries, 26 Oxford (regular museum admission rates apply)
• 10am to 4pm, explore the HMNH ‘s galleries and see a one-day-only display of Wallace-related specimens and objects from the Museum’s zoological collections. Come see Wallace's spectacular birds of paradise and birdwing butterflies, and learn more about his remarkable life story.
• 2pm - Join Mr. Wallace himself (impersonated by Wallace historian and evolutionary biologist Andrew Berry) for a live presentation about his remarkable life as scientist, author, and social activist. Find out more about Wallace and bring your questions.
4-6pm In the Geological Lecture Hall, 24 Oxford Street

Wallace100 is an informal international association of organisations with projects that are designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wallace’s death in 2013.
